The ISIS leader blew himself up in the US raid on Syria just before he was killed

The United States is beating ISIS. US President Joe Biden announced today that last night a dramatic raid by American commando forces on a village in Syria killed the leader of the ISIS terrorist organization, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, also known as Abdullah Kardash. Troops raided a house where the terrorist was staying in a village in Idlib province, one of the last strongholds of the rebels in the Assad regime, and al-Qurayshi reportedly blew himself up and his family. During the raid, fierce battles took place between the fighters and the local gunmen, and several civilians were killed.

Biden also made a brief statement to the nation tonight, saying that “in a cowardly move,” al-Qurayshi “chose to blow himself up and his family – just like his predecessor.” Biden refers to the first leader of the terrorist organization, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was also killed in a US operation in the same area in Syria, in 2019, and who also blew himself up with his family before being captured by US forces.

The operation came amid fears in the West that ISIS is raising its head and stepping up its terrorist attacks in Syria and Iraq, a few years after the fall of the suits it has set up in vast territory in those two countries.
