Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The Islamic Dawa Party issued a statement regarding the work of the Baath Party in Jordan, considering it a hostile and provocative act.

The Iraqis were surprised, shocked, and utterly angry at the news of the Jordanian government’s permission for the (Saddam’s Ba’ath) party to exercise political activity, and it was sufficient evidence to prevent this fascist party from working because of its black history and the consequences of its presence in power of tragedies for the peoples of the region because of its fueling of internal conflicts and wars of aggression, including Invading Kuwait, opening the gates of Iraq to foreign occupation.
While we are keen on the common fraternal relationship with the neighboring and sister country Jordan, however, we find that this act is not consistent with the principles of good neighborliness, and does not respect the feelings of the vast majority of the Iraqi people. Rather, it involves improper intentions towards Iraq and its stability, which will negatively affect the popular position. And the politician who will press for a review of the current relationship with the Jordanian side.
This party, with its bloody past, will not serve the interests of Jordanians, but will negatively affect their relations with a number of Arab and Islamic countries that have been damaged by its aggressive and reckless policies.
We call on the Jordanian government to revoke the license of this party and prevent it from practicing any activity to safeguard common interests, which have begun a new and growing era, out of concern for cooperation and fraternal relations between the two peoples.
We also call on the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon the ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Baghdad to protest against this unfriendly measure towards Iraq.
We call on our people and their active forces to express their protest in various peaceful ways against this hostile and provocative step.
