Thousands protested in several Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem local time on Saturday, demanding that the Israeli government do more to release hostages taken by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

At the mass demonstration called “120 days underground”, referring to the number of days spent in captivity, many family members of those who were abducted also appeared, and one of them, a 15-year-old boy – whose cousin was captured by the militants – in his speech demanded from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “at any cost ” brings people home.

Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, launched a coordinated attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people and wounding more than 3,000. Hamas took 240 hostages to Gaza, of which around 100 have since been released. According to Israeli sources, 132 are still imprisoned in the zone, and 28 are believed to be dead. In response, Israel launched an operation to eliminate Hamas.

The British and American armed forces launched new attacks against Houthi rebels’ military facilities in Yemen, the Ministry of Defense in London announced on Saturday night.

the two allied forces carried out precision strikes on a total of 36 targets at thirteen locations in Yemen in response to the twenty’s continued attacks on merchant and warships in the Red Sea.

Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands and New Zealand provided support for the British-American action.

British warplanes attacked two ground control centers on the coast of the Red Sea west of the capital, Sanaa. These coastal control centers provided drones launched by the 20s from inland with the data needed to attack ships in the Red Sea, according to the British Ministry of Defence.

According to the ministry, Typhoon warplanes also attacked a number of targets in the Bani district in northwestern Yemen.

On Saturday night’s attack, London also issued a joint statement on behalf of the British and American governments on behalf of Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

According to this communiqué, among the primary targets of the current attack were the weapon depots hidden deep underground by the 20s, as well as missile systems, launch sites, air defense and radar systems.

According to the joint statement, more than thirty attacks have been carried out against commercial and warships since the middle of November 20th.

The governments that signed the communique also emphasize that they remain committed to the protection of shipping and international trade, and that they will hold the Huszis accountable for the illegal and unjustified attacks they have committed against commercial and warships.

Our goal is to ease tension and restore stability in the Red Sea, but we confirm our warning to the Husi leadership: we will continue to defend human lives and unimpeded commercial traffic on one of the world’s most critical waterways in the event of continued threats.

– states the joint statement.

During the day, the spokesperson of the 20s confirmed the news on the social media site X, stating that the action against the rebels “will not go unpunished”. they continue to “steadfastly support” the Palestinian people.

The spokesperson did not mention casualties or damage.

The US House of Representatives plans to pass a multibillion-dollar bill to help Israel

The US House of Representatives plans to vote on a $17.6 billion aid bill for Israel next week, the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, announced on Saturday.

In his letter to his fellow Republican representatives, the politician justified the need to adopt the new law by saying that in the past three months, the fighting started by Hamas has intensified, as well as armed groups supported by Iran attacking American forces stationed in the Middle East, and American counterstrikes are currently taking place.

Last fall, the Republican majority of the US House of Representatives passed a law on Israel’s $14.3 billion aid, which would have taken the funds needed for the aid from the significantly increased budget of the US tax authority.

The lower house law was not put on the agenda by the Senate with a democratic majority. Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, the majority leader of the Senate, justified the move by saying that the clause resulting in the reduction of the federal tax authority’s budget is a “poison pill”, and therefore he is unable to put it to a vote.

Mike Johnson’s announcement is that the tax authority deduction is not included in the new bill, so “the Senate will have no objection.”

According to the previous argument of the Republicans, they prepared a separate bill on Israel’s security support because it is not surrounded by opposition among the party’s representatives, while conditions are attached to the fulfillment of the White House’s request for further support to Ukraine.

At the same time, a bill is being prepared in the Senate, which, according to its intention, fulfills the demands of the Republicans regarding the action against illegal immigration and the tightening of border control. According to preliminary information, the legislation reflects a compromise between Democratic and Republican senators, and the final text was promised for next week.

Republicans’ top demand is to resolve the border and migration crisis before agreeing to a budget supplement requested by President Joe Biden, which includes $60 billion in additional military and financial aid to Ukraine.

At the same time, the president of the House of Representatives expressed his regret that the members of the lower house were excluded from the negotiations on the compromise, so he could not promise that the legislation would be adopted by the House of Representatives.
