The Israeli army announced that it had struck positions of the Shiite group “Hezbollah” in southern Lebanon, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) aircraft hit two Hezbollah military sites in the Labune region and another in the Ramieh region, the statement said. “In the last 48 hours, we have eliminated a total of ten terrorists, including a central field commander,” IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari told reporters.

Earlier on Saturday, the IDF said Israeli jets attacked a vehicle “carrying several terrorists who fired rockets into Israeli territory.”

The Hezbollah group said six of its members were killed in the Israeli attacks, adding that it shelled an Israeli barracks near the town of Liman as well as IDF units stationed near the border.

DPA notes that so far there are no reports of casualties on the Israeli side and that the information released by the Israeli army and Hezbollah has not yet been confirmed by an independent source.

Since the Gaza war broke out following the October 7 attack by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on southern Israel, the Israeli-Lebanese border area has been regularly shelled.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant warned last week that he would step up military pressure on Hezbollah if the Shiite group did not withdraw from the Israeli-Lebanese border.
