The Israeli General Security Service Shin Bet reported the suppression of plans by several Palestinians and Arab-Israelis to carry out terrorist attacks, including on Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax.

“There was an intention to assassinate Ben-Gvir using a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher,” The Times of Israel quotes excerpts from the Shin Bet statement.

The service reported that seven Arab Israelis and four Palestinians from the West Bank were detained on suspicion of plotting attacks. Ten suspects were charged in a court in the city of Beersheba.

According to the statement, the cell also planned to attack Israel Defense Forces (IDF) bases and other strategic sites, including Ben-Gurion Airport and a government complex in Jerusalem. In addition, according to the General Security Service, the group intended to carry out a number of other attacks, as well as kidnap Israeli soldiers.

To do this, according to Shin Bet, the cell planned to rent a plot of land in southern Israel or the West Bank to create an underground weapons production and training complex.

The service said that members of the group tried to contact representatives of the Palestinian Hamas movement to receive funding and instructions from them. Thus, according to Shin Bet, at least one detainee was in touch with a Hamas member in the Gaza Strip, who offered him funds for attacks in Israel.
