They used to be the legendary The Jackson Five. Now there are only three. People danced and reminisced at the Jackson Brothers’ concert. But some fans were disappointed.
Munich.
It should be festive, intimate, happy and with memories of the legendary moments of the Jackson Five. “We want to bring people together in harmony and peace,” Marlon, Tito and Jackie Jackson announced before their only concert in Germany in Munich. They had already performed there once in 1972 – then later with their brothers Jermaine and Michael, later the King of Pop. More than 50 years later, fans are ready to dance and listen to good music at Circus Krone on Tuesday evening. But many hopes were disappointed.
The choice of songs, the stages with disco glitter and well-known movements – everything is perfect. It is hard to believe that there are men in their 70s on stage, they control the movements easily. Tito Taryll’s son also fits in well as he is allowed to force the Jacksons.
Only one thing is wrong – the acoustics. Bass thumping noise from large speakers, creating a deafening carpet of sound. The singers tried valiantly to sing to him, but their voices were lost in the general chorus of voices. Even quiet songs like the famous and airy “I’ll Be There” are literally drowned out by tinny noise.
The Jacksons represented a mixture of soul, pop, funk and country and blues. The brothers started making music in the 1960s, first Jacky, Jermaine and Tito. With Michael and Marlon they finally became The Jackson Five and in 1969 signed a contract with the famous Motown label, initially under the wing of the soul diva Diana Ross. His first single “I Want You Back” was a success.
With more than 100 million records sold, they became one of the most successful groups in pop history, while Michael Jackson continued his solo career and became a global star. (dpa)
