The Jerusalem Municipality has approved the construction of an employment complex in the east of the city

The Jerusalem Municipality, through the local planning and construction committee, has recommended approving a plan to establish a new employment zone in the Issawiya neighborhood in the east of the city. This is an area that is immediately accessible from the long-distance road No. 1, and from the eastern ring road which will connect it in the future to many neighborhoods in the city.

The Jerusalem Municipality is promoting a comprehensive master plan for the Issawiya neighborhood, as part of which this location was proposed for the employment area. In the area there is unregulated construction used by local businesses. The new plan will enable the construction of new construction, to a high standard and in a saturated manner. It will be possible to build about 90,000 square meters for recreational, leisure and recreational uses – cafes and restaurants, shops, gyms, banquet halls – in parallel with the establishment of vocational training colleges and offices for large and small businesses.

As part of the planning, a new access to the neighborhood from Road No. 1 is being regulated, which will constitute a significant and important entrance gate to the neighborhood. Also, a lot of thought has been given to creating a shady, well-kept and pleasant space to stay in, including a sidewalk and boardwalk.

The program was promoted by the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage, through the East Jerusalem Development Company, as part of an overall move to improve the supply, level and variety of jobs for the Arab population in the city, and with the intention of providing adequate jobs for women. At the same time, additional complexes are being promoted in the east of the city, and one of them in Umm Tuba is in final approval procedures.

Mayor Moshe Leon: “About a year and a half ago, the plan was deposited and now it is approved. The rapid promotion of the plan indicates an urban policy for the development and expansion of employment complexes throughout the city, for the Jerusalem economy. We will continue to encourage and create employment and housing opportunities.”
