The joint committee between the experts of “IUBAM” and the Libyans holds its meeting

This morning, the second meeting of the joint committee between experts from the European Union Mission (EUBAM) and Libyan experts from the relevant ministries and their security agencies was held.

The Libyan side was headed by Abdulrahman Al-Hadi Khamada, Director of the European Affairs Department, while the mission side was headed by Ian Vechta, Head of the EUBAM Mission in Libya.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Director and Head of Mission stressed the need to enhance cooperation and joint coordination between the two parties in a way that serves the common interests of both sides to achieve the greatest benefit from the projects, activities and programmes supported by EUPAMM.

During the meeting, the progress of the technical teams tasked with following up on the agreed projects, programmes and activities supported by the mission in the maritime and land fields, combating terrorism and organised crime, as well as in the field of combating drugs and psychotropic substances, was discussed, and the difficulties and obstacles facing the relevant Libyan sectors were identified in order to address them and find appropriate solutions for them.

This comes in implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the European Union Mission for Integrated Border Management in Libya (EUBAM), in October of last year 2023 AD.
