Are the journalists in Qatar predicting a historic sensation in the results of the World Cup? In a poll conducted among journalists from all over the world covering the World Cup in Qatar, 55% of them chose Japan as the best team in the tournament.

The results are particularly surprising not only because Japan has never won the World Cup, but also because most of the bets range between Europe – France, Portugal, Holland, Spain or even England – and America – mainly Brazil or Argentina.

The journalists were also required to choose the best player in the tournament, and predictably chose Leo Messi, the star of the Argentina national team. Second place went to Pablo Gabi from Spain, third to Jude Bellingham from England, fourth and fifth to Richarlison de Andres and Kylian Mbappe from Brazil, and only sixth place came to a Japanese player – the star Ritsu Doan.

Also in the ranking of coaches, Argentina won first place with coach Lionel Scaloni. The second place went to the coach of the Japanese team Hajima Moriasu, the third to the coach of the Saudi Arabian national team Herve Renard of France, and the fourth to Luis Enrique the coach of Spain.
