LThe veil is finally lifted. For the 76e Cannes Film Festival, which will be held from May 16 to 27, French director Julia Ducournau and American actress Brie Larson will be in the jury, the organizers revealed on Thursday May 4. The Frenchwoman had been Palme d’Or in 2021 with Titanium when Brie Larson received an Oscar for Room. The entire college of professionals remains chaired by Ruben Östlund. This jury, made up of five men and four women, thus includes the last two winners of the ultimate award given on the Croisette, Östlund having won his second Palme d’Or in 2022 for Without filter.
His mission will be to choose the Palme d’or 2023 from among the 21 films announced in competition, including Asteroid City by Wes Anderson, Anatomy of a fall de Justine Triet, Monster by Hirokazu Kore-eda, winner in 2018 with A family matteror The return by Catherine Corsini.

This jury is also composed of the Moroccan director Maryam Touzani (The blue of the caftan), French actor Denis Ménochet (the beasts), British-Zambian director Rungano Nyoni (I’m Not a Witch), American actor and director Paul Dano (Okja), Afghan writer and director Atiq Rahimi (Prix Goncourt in 2008 for his novel Syngue sabour) and Argentinian filmmaker Damian Szifron (The New Savages).
To constitute this jury, the organizers underlined in a press release that they wanted to “welcome the arrival of a generation of artists who produce, who play, who sing, who write”. He will announce his prize list on Saturday 27 May in the evening.
