MADRID, 20 years ago. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The King of Morocco, Mohamed VI, signed an amnesty or some kind of benefit for 708 people this Tuesday, a day after receiving amnesty for more than 5,500 people, most of them guilty of cannabis cultivation.

The Royal House of Morocco introduced the last amnesty battery within the Youth Festival that the government commemorates every August 21. According to a note from the Ministry of Justice, 474 of the beneficiaries are currently in prison and, for four of them , would mean converting life sentences into “limited” time in prison, the MAP agency said.

Mohamed VI, who will turn 61 on Wednesday, often goes to such extremes on important days, because the pardons announced on Monday night are in accordance with the so-called Revolution of the King and the People, in which we have commemorated the exile of the grandfather of the current king, Mohamed V.

In the case of that first phase, the king seeks to apply the reforms adopted by Parliament in 2021 and which involve the modernization of the cultivation and marketing of cannabis for medicinal and industrial use.
