The Azerbaijan State National Theater for Young Spectators took part in the XII International Festival-Laboratory of Chamber Theaters and Small Form Performances “MoldFest”, which was held in Chisinau (Moldova), the theater’s press service told Day.Az.
With the support of the Union of Theatre Workers of Azerbaijan, a one-man show “Notes of a Madman” was presented, directed by People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, director Jannet Salimova based on the story of the same name by Nikolai Gogol and performed by Honored Artist Shovgi Huseynov.
The hero of “Notes of a Madman”, on whose behalf the story is told, is Aksenty Poprishchin, a minor St. Petersburg official, a copyist of papers in the department. The story is a diary of the main character. At the beginning, he describes his life and work, as well as the people around him. Then he writes about his feelings for the director’s daughter, and soon after that, signs of madness begin to appear – he talks to her dog Medzhi, after which he gets letters that Medzhi wrote to another dog. A few days later, he completely breaks away from reality – he begins to think that he is the king of Spain. He ends up in a madhouse, but perceives this as an arrival in Spain.
Shovgi Guseinov was awarded an honorary diploma of the festival.
