The KTM 990 Duke was not long in coming and arrived a short time ago after rivers of ink. The naked officially took over from the 890 Duke, and it also did so with a profound renovation at all levels. Although we knew everything about this bike, we It was missing to know the official price of the Austrian brandwhich has already put up the sale sign for its new 990.

The most radical novelty at first sight came with that most striking lighthouse. These are LED headlights that sculpt that menacing appearance. On a technical level, it has daytime running lights that automatically adjust their intensity according to ambient light conditions, and automatic low beam lights that remain illuminated for a few seconds after finishing the route. That is to say, they are intelligent.

The other novelty comes in the concept of completely new steel tube frame. Those from Mattighofen have improved the rigidity levels of the frame to support the increase in engine power. In numbers, it supports 8% more lateral and 5% more torsional rigidity.

As for the swingarm, it is also new, gravity cast. The Austrians have reduced the piece by 1.5 kilos, which helps absorb bumps better and helps cushioning. Another important change is the more prominent fuel tank. With 0.8 liters more, it is 14.8 liters compared to the 890 Duke.

But without a doubt another of the most striking new features of the price is the engine. The LC8c parallel twin cylinder now has 947 cc and 123 HP of power at 9,500 revolutions and 103 Nm of torque. That represents an increase of 8 hp and 11 Nm compared to the LC8c of the 890 Duke.

Among the many changes that the LC8c engine of the 990 Duke has received we find more aggressive camshaft profiles and longer valve opening times to improve rideability, while a wider radiator with optimized airflow ensures everything stays cool.

Also They have redesigned the stainless steel exhaust system from the manifold to the muffler. The objective was to adapt it to the new Euro5+ anti-pollution regulations.

Refering to part of the cycle. The 43mm, 140mm travel WP APEX open cartridge front fork and WP APEX shock feature five-click compression and rebound adjustment. Braking is provided by two lightweight 300 mm floating discs that are combined with four-piston radial-mount calipers, and a 240 mm disc is mounted at the rear. Comes with Supermoto ABS.

Finish off a renewed TFT instrumentation with 5-inch screen with new software, KTMConnect and a USB Type-C charging socket. Through it you can control the five different riding modes: STREET, SPORT, RAIN and two options, PERFORMANCE and TRACK.
