After 25 editions, it could be said that it is almost inconceivable that the ballet barre on the railing of La Concha is not threatened by the dreaded weather forecasts. Year after year the fear of suspension hovers among organizers, teachers and dancers but also, year after year, the sun begins to break through in a truce that is undoubtedly already an essential part of this tradition.
The day after International Dance Day brought together hundreds of students from Basque dance schools this Sunday on the San Sebastian promenade. A silver anniversary that has served to break its participation record with up to 1,476 leading dancers, who have released the kilometers of a renewed railing after successive months of maintenance works.
An initiative that forms part of the Dance Month, organized by the Association of Dance Professionals of Gipuzkoa (APDG) and which on Saturday had, as a prelude, the open-air show Dantza Kalean, where dancers from thirteen Gipuzkoan schools delighted the public in Alderdi Eder with choreographies of very different styles.
