My Bangladesh Party – AB Party has formed a Central Coordination Cell to provide humanitarian assistance to the people affected by the recent severe floods. The party’s member secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju said this at a press conference held at the party’s central office on Saturday (August 24) afternoon.

He urged to remove the lack of coordination of various voluntary and government organizations in the recent floods.

AB Party’s joint convener Advocate Tajul Islam, joint member secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad and central leader Lieut. Colonel (Retd.) Helal Uddin.

Advocate Tajul Islam said that people from all over the country have extended their helping hand to the distressed humanity due to this sudden flood. Responding to the call of anti-discrimination students, people along the lines came forward for cooperation. Many people have taken help there themselves. But we are noticing that there is a huge lack of coordination between voluntary and government agencies. Therefore, we will call on the countrymen, instead of going to the affected areas personally, if we work in coordination with the army or anti-discrimination students, we will be able to reach the right place.

Barrister Fuad said, we have to look into the causes of sudden floods. A couple of months ago, the August floods were discussed at the ECNEC meeting. As such some part of the state was aware of it. But, unfortunately we did not get any advance warning from our Meteorological Department. The government should specifically investigate this.

Referring to India’s role, he said that as a neighboring country, they have violated all international rules. It is a crime to withdraw water through dams in international rivers, divert the flow of water through the interconnectivity of rivers, and even give no notice before releasing water from dams. He urged the government to file a complaint against India in all international organizations including the United Nations, Commonwealth.

Lt. Colonel Helal Uddin said, we have contacted the concerned officials of the army. They said that many volunteers are now staying in the affected area. If those who want relief help coordinate, we can distribute it in an orderly manner. AB Party will give full support to the current needs and post-disaster rehabilitation process subject to discussions with the army, Insha’Allah.

AB Party Publicity Secretary Anwar Sadat Tutul, Senior Assistant Member Secretary ABM Khalid Hasan, Metropolitan North Convenor Altaf Hossain, Assistant Member Secretary M Amjad Khan, Metropolitan North Member Secretary Salim Khan, Youth Party Member Secretary Hadiuzzaman Khokon, Central Committee Member Amena Begum were present. , Runa Hossain, Shahinur Akhtar Sheela, Abdur Rab Jamil and other leaders of various levels of the central and metropolitan areas.
