Our female chess players beat Italy 3.5 to 0.5 in the last round of the Chess Olympiad in Hungary. The only draw was for Victoria Radeva with black against Thea Getchi. Antoineta Stefanova won with black Marina Brunello, and with white Nurgyul Selimova and Beloslava Krasteva won against Olga Zimina and Sata Julia, respectively.
In the final ranking, Bulgaria took 10th place with 16 match points, the same as 7th China, but in terms of additional indicators we lost to the Asian women, Ukraine and Poland in additional indicators. Again, we overtook Argentina and Uzbekistan on them.
The champion team is India with 19 match points, 1 more than Kazakhstan. The bronze medals remained for the USA with 17, as many as Spain, Armenia and Georgia.
The men lost with 2.5:1.5 points to Germany, and the defeat of Momchil Petkov with black on the fourth board by Frederik Svane was decisive. Ivan Cheparinov (White), Arkady Naidich (Black) and Martin Petrov (White) drew with Vincent Keimer, Dmitri Kollars and Matthias Blubaum respectively.
Thus, ours remained in 27th place with 14 match points. With the same asset, but with better indicators, ahead of us are Vietnam and Iran, and behind us are Latvia, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Colombia, Austria, Hungary II, Croatia, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Egypt and Chile.
Even before the last round, the title was taken by the Indians, who finished with 21 match points. The USA is in second place, and the bronze went to Uzbekistan. Those two teams, plus China, Serbia and Armenia, finished with 17 match points each and were ranked in the additional metrics.
