Political lackeys of agribusiness want to apply in the Senate the same strategy used in the Chamber of Deputies and speed up the voting on the Temporary Framework. The so-called “ruralist bench” claims to have gathered 27 signatures to vote on the bill urgently.

On Thursday (15), parliamentarians will put pressure on the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG). The plan is to take advantage of the suspension of the trial on the subject in the Federal Supreme Court and go back to go over indigenous rights.

In the Court, on Wednesday (7) the debate on the law that regulates the demarcation of indigenous lands was resumed. After the minister Alexandre de Moraes voted against the proposal and left the score 2-1, Bolsonarista André Mendonça called for revisions to the process.

Now, the minister will have 90 days to study the measure and give his opinion. For this reason, the senators of the “bancada do boy” [de estancieros y terratenientes] they want to speed up the procedures and have the Temporary Framework approved before the end of the trial in the STF.

If you follow the normal procedures, the now PL [Proyecto de Ley] 2093 must first be approved by the Agriculture Commission and the Constitution and Justice Commission before going to a vote in Plenary. That would give indigenous peoples time to advance in the fight for their rights.

mobilizations

In the last week several mobilizations took place against the thesis of the Temporary Framework that restricts the right to land to those who have the means to verify that they were in place until the date of the creation of the Federal Constitution (10/05/1988).

In São Paulo (SP), the act took place in front of the Municipal Theater and was attended by union centrals, including the CSP-Conlutas, as well as unions and social movements. Artists such as Daniela Mercury and Zélia Duncan also joined the presence of the Guarani people.

Also with the presence of our Headquarters, in Salvador (Bahia), the mobilization was held in Thomé de Souza Square. The Tupinambá indigenous people led the mobilization. In Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais), the protest closed the Fernão Dias highway.

Demonstrations were also carried out on highways in the States of Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina.

Act in the MASP

The issue of the Temporary Framework was once again the subject of protest on Tuesday (13). The action took place this time in front of Masp, on Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo, and the agenda was also the end of the Fiscal Framework.

Several entities of the working class met once again to say no to the main attacks against the rights of the people, already approved during the Lula government. The Fiscal Framework provides for a cut in public investment if the government does not achieve the fiscal goals established by the financial market.

For this reason, the CSP-Conlutas calls on the other union centrals to join this fight. Only with independence of class will it be possible to really defend the interests of the population. Enough of passing cloths to the government. It is in the streets that the class struggle takes place.
