China in 2024 became the largest market for wearable devices in the world. This was reported in a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
In the first three quarters of 2024, manufacturers of wearable gadgets – smart watches, fitness trackers and other devices – shipped 139 million units of devices to the market. This is 1 percent less than in the same period last year. Market saturation in the US and India was cited as the reason for the decline.
The most wearable devices were supplied to the Chinese market – 45.8 million devices. This is a 20 percent increase compared to 2023. The leader in the global market for smart watches and fitness trackers, according to IDC, was the Chinese corporation Huawei, which received a share of 16.9 percent, having shipped 23.6 million gadgets.
In second place was the American Apple, which shipped 22.5 million devices, receiving a share of 16.2 percent. In the top 3 with a share of 14.7 percent was Xiaomi, which supplied 20.5 million units of products to the market. Below are Samsung and BBK corporations.
