“Newspaper reported”Or Osnabrücker ZeitungThe German newspaper cited sources as saying that the number of refugees in Germany has reached its highest level since the Second World War.
The newspaper wrote: “The number of refugees living in Germany reached an all-time high at the end of the first half of 2024, as there were around 3.48 million refugees living here, and this is around 60,000 more people more than it was. at the end of 2023, which is a record”.
The newspaper noted that “this number is the highest since the 1950s.”
“Among the 3.48 million refugees, there are about 1.18 million Ukrainians,” the newspaper explained, citing sources in the federal government.
On September 9, German Interior Minister Nancy Visser ordered the introduction of temporary control measures at all German land borders to limit the flow of migrants.
The debate on Germany’s immigration policy intensified after the terrorist attack that took place in Solingen on August 23, allegedly by a Syrian national who was supposed to be deported from Germany in 2023 after killing 3 people and 8 others to terminate.
