Curtain down on longest running show by Broadway with thunderous standing ovations, champagne toasts, and gold and silver confetti bursting from its famous chandelier. A crowd of admirers gathers outside the theater for the final evening. It was show no. 13,981 at the Majestic Theater and concluded with a reprise of “The Music of the Night” performed by the current cast, previous performers of the show – including original star (and Lloyd Webber’s ex-wife) Sarah Brightman – and crew members in street.
