The NASA has published a video captured by its telescopes that has surprised even specialists in space weather. It is a solar prominence. That is, from a giant plasma filament that separated from the Sun but remained anchored to its surface and revolved around its north pole.

Similar events are expected to continue for years to come. Proof of this is that, a few days after this solar prominence, cold plasma continued to form at the solar pole. Because of the type of eruption shown in the video, we are expected to see its peak in 2025.
A large prominence located at the Sun’s northern pole appears to be in the process of lifting off. Something to watch over the next several hours. Should this event produce a coronal mass ejection (CME), it would be directed away from Earth. Image by GOES-16 SUVI. pic.twitter.com/F42F2oOhmQ

On Saturday, February 10, there was also an X-class solar flare. It was a filament that broke away from the sun’s surface and became a vortex. Something that is more common and that usually occurs every 11 years. She left South America with a temporary radio blackout.
