Latvia beat Denmark’s hockey players with a score of 5:3 (0:0, 3:2, 2:1).
In the first period, each of the teams violated the rules once, but no goals were scored.
In the 25th minute, Joachim Blitzfeld scored a goal with an assist to Niklas Jensen and Markus Holton – 1:0 for Denmark.
Latvia equalized the result after 53 seconds, when after Arvils Bergmanis passed through the air from the left side of his zone, Renārs Krastenbergs skated alone with the Danish goalkeeper Mats Segord on the right side of the field and sent the puck into the upper right corner of the goal – 1:1.
After a long pass by Bogdans Hodas, Rodrigo Ābols received the puck in the opponent’s defensive zone, who first outplayed the opponent’s defender, and then beat Segorda, putting Latvia in the lead in the 33rd minute.
On the other hand, in the 37th minute, Eduards Tralmaks doubled Latvia’s lead. The Latvian striker, when the Latvians played in the minority, successfully intercepted the opponent’s inaccurate pass after the throw and carried out a quick attack alone, ending it with an accurate shot.
Less than a minute later, the Danes still used the majority and Filip Brugisser sent the puck into the goal guarded by Gustav Grigal from a long distance, but at the beginning of the third period, after five minutes played, Denmark equalized the result, Oskar Fisker Melgord scoring a goal
Ten and a half minutes before the end of regular time, Markus Komuls restored Latvia’s one-goal lead, and three minutes later Rudolf Balcers made it 5:3, who sent the puck into Denmark’s goal with a strong wrist shot.
On Sunday, in the first test match, Latvia lost to the Danes with 2:3. Eduards Tralmaks and Roberts Bukarts scored goals for Latvia.
Five goalkeepers, 11 defenders and 18 forwards are included in the list of Latvian national team candidates for the Olympic qualification tournament. Harijs Vītoliņš will name the team for the qualification tournament after the test matches with Denmark.
Due to personal reasons, NHL players Teodors Bļugers and Elvis Merzlikins, as well as defender Kārlis Čukste, cannot help the Latvian national team in the qualification tournament.
The Latvian national team will fight Slovenia on August 29, Ukraine a day later and France on September 1 for a ticket to the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Only the winner of the qualification will win the ticket to the 2026 Olympic Games.
