Holy Week in Malaga 2024 already has a town crier. The brother, lawyer and university professor Augusto Pansard Anaya will be in charge of taking to the stage of the Cervantes Theater on Saturday, March 16 of next year to exalt with his words the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ according to Málaga. He will thus pick up the baton from his predecessor this year, Francisco Jiménez Valverde, who will be his presenter.

The governing board of the Group of Holy Week Brotherhoods agreed at its ordinary meeting this Thursday night on the proposal presented by the new president, José Carlos Garín, who makes his debut in the appointment of town crier. The decision was previously consulted and approved by the bishop of the diocese, Jesús Catalá, according to the entity based in San Julián.

Currently, Augusto Pansard Anaya is first lieutenant of the older brother of the Brotherhood of Piety and a delegate in the Group representing this brotherhood based in the El Molinillo neighborhood. Likewise, he is a brother of the Pollinica, where he entered when he was six years old and has participated since then every Palm Sunday in different positions in the procession, currently being a councilor of the entity, and also belongs to the Sentence, where he has held positions in the governing board. At the provincial level, he belongs to the Brotherhood of the Vera Cruz of Almogía.

Experience as a preacher

In his brother’s career, he has extensive experience as a crier since he has delivered those of the brotherhoods of Sentencia, Prendimiento, Cautivo, Piedad (for the 75th anniversary of the corporation), Sangre and Zamarrilla in the capital; of the Students in Antequera; of the Brotherhood of the Vera Cruz of Alhaurín de la Torre, of the Vera Cruz of Almogía and of the Pollinica of Alhaurín de la Torre. While in the area of ​​the Glorias he gave voice to the proclamations of the Archconfraternity of Carmen Coronada and Nuestra Señora del Rosario, patron saint of El Palo.

A contributor to different media outlets, where he has always accompanied the Holy Week preacher of Málaga, Félix Gutiérrez, Augusto Pansard Anaya is the author of different scientific publications and co-author of the book ’75 years of Rosario in Málaga’, published within the collection of monographs from La Saeta, in its autumn 2013 edition, as well as the work ‘History of the Real Brotherhood of Piety’, published on the occasion of the 75th. anniversary of the blessing of the image of said corporation.

Biography

Although born in Seville in 1966, Pansard Anaya has lived practically his entire life in Malaga. A neighbor of Fuente Olletas during his childhood, he was a parishioner of the church of San Antonio María Claret and then in the parish of Las Flores. He is the eldest of three brothers and has been married since 1993 to Queti Lloret, a non-practicing teacher, and is the father of a daughter.

Graduated in Law from the University of Malaga, being a student in the sixth class, he is a specialist in European Community Law. Continuing the teaching vocation of his parents, since 1990 he has been a professor of Public International Law and International Relations at the UMA, developing his teaching work at the Faculty of Law. During different stages, he has also taught the subject of International Relations in the Faculty of Information Sciences, in the Degree in Journalism, as well as in the Master of Law.

He is also a practicing lawyer, affiliated with the Illustrious College of Malaga, and is the owner of a professional law firm in the capital.
