Although the winter weather continues with us, but here is another spring sign. This morning (Friday) the goat litter season began, with the first documentation of offspring in the Cincinnati Cliff Reserve
Nature and Parks Authority inspector Daniel Shemer woke up to a particularly happy morning and documented the first descendants of the chamois in the Cinnamon Cliff Reserve. It is estimated that there are about 1500 goats in Israel that are endangered species.
Dr. Assaf Tzoar, an ecologist for the Southern District of the Nature and Parks Authority, says that the calving season of the Novi goat is in early spring, so these days, you can start watching mothers and clothes.

According to him, rescuing the chamois from extinction and the existence of populations in most of the cliffs of the Negev and the Judean Desert is considered one of the most prominent achievements of nature conservation in Israel. The Novi ibex was mostly common in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia. In Israel, with the establishment of the state, a limited number of goats survived in the Judean Desert. Following conservation efforts, the goat population began to recover and spread in the Judean Desert and the Negev. After the Six Day War, the goat population also spread to the northern part of the Judean Desert.

A female goat is able to give birth to one goat, and if she is older and more experienced, her physical condition is good and she is in an area cell where she feeds good twins. In a year when few litters are parked and goat survival is low. The calving occurs in the spring and the mating is in the fall before the rains, so it actually “gambles” on the condition of the plant after the rains – whether not to calve or to give birth to one or two goats. As they grow up, you can see “games” of the goats in which they wait for the adults in war games, and thus at an early age they test their strength against the rest of their peers.
The Nature and Parks Authority states that the ibex is a wild animal and therefore should not be fed. In the last two weeks, a large number of goats have been run over in the area of Road 90 who went up to eat food on the sides of the road. The drivers are asked to drive carefully and help us keep the goats.
