The Latvian Cup confirmed that, in general, the trends before the next week’s World Cup stage in Sigulda are encouraging – Kristers Aparjods showed a result that is close to the track record, the two-seater crews, Robots and Kendija Aparjods also had good runs. True, there are changes in the men’s two-seater crew. In Sigulda, Eduards Ševics-Mikeļševics starts together with Gustavs Babri, because Lūkas Krastas has to recover from the injury suffered at the beginning of the season,” says the coach of the Latvian national team, Daniels Fogelis.

In the 4th stage of the Eberspächer World Cup, together with the national team, juniors will also compete: two-seater crew Raimonds Baltgalvis/Uldis Jakseboga, individual luge drivers Roberts Lazdāns and Margita Sirsniņa.

“The start of the World Cup stage on the home track is a great opportunity for the best juniors to show themselves in the adult competition, as well as to gain confidence in their abilities before the juniors at the end of January. As we saw today, the Sigulda track is not easy and not all athletes were up to it,” admits the juniors and youth head coach Mihails Arkhipov.

Kristaps Mauriņš, Secretary General of the Latvian Luge Sports Federation, thanks all the athletes, parents, fans, and also praises the good quality of the ice on the Sigulda track.
