Even though the tests were only carried out in 2023, the study presented relevant information that should not be left aside by drivers.

Latin N-Cap points to Citroën C3 and Jac E-JS1 as the least safe cars in Brazil in 2023!

As an example, the Citroën C3 was rated zero stars due to several factors, including:

Unstable structure; Ineffective protection against frontal collisions; Lack of side protection for the head; Lack of warning to use seat belts.

The JAC E10x, which was the first electric vehicle evaluated by the entity, presented some worrying problems, such as the instability of the car’s structure.

Evaluation of the Latin N-Cap shows flaws in the structure of the Citroën C3 manufactured in Brazil!

The Citroën C3, manufactured in Brazil, is known for having two airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard equipment. However, according to the Latin N-Cap assessment, the vehicle’s structure did not receive a good score.

The electric car received the following grades:

30.52% in Adult Occupant;12.10% in Child Occupant;49.74% in Protection of Pedestrians and Vulnerable Road Users;34.88% in Safety Assistance.

The organization evaluated the car’s performance in relation to frontal and side impacts, as well as protection against whiplash in the cervical region, pedestrian protection and the electronic stability control system. Check out the results:

Lower than expected protection for the driver’s chest; Instability in the structure and foot region; Marginal protection for the chest of the passenger sitting in the front seat; Ineffective performance on the adult’s neck, in relation to protection against cervical whiplash.

Regarding the safety of the child in the car, the vehicle offered almost complete protection, but there was an impact on dynamic points due to the lack of indication of ISOFIX anchorages for the use of child restraint devices (DRI).

Next, information about the Jac E-JS1, which is better known as e-JS1, will be presented. Check out:

Does not contain standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC);

The organization’s main concern is regarding JAC’s insufficient performance and the lack of feedback from the manufacturer regarding the problems identified in the analysis.

According to Alejandro Furas, General Secretary of Latin NCAP:

” This result proves wrong the myth that consumers generally associate electric vehicles with high-tech, safer vehicles, and reaffirms that – like any other vehicle – they must be evaluated for safety.

Latin NCAP openly invites JAC to improve this model or any other model to show consumers that the JAC fleet has cars with better performance in terms of safety.

Alejandro Furas, General Secretary of Latin NCAP, endorses the chorus regarding vehicle safety:

“It is alarming how Stellantis repeatedly disregards basic safety for Latin Americans and it is unacceptable that their vehicles reach such a low level of safety when they know very well how to produce affordable and much safer cars.

Recently, Stellantis declared that it “reinforces its commitment to the constant evolution of safety in its products and sells models with the most rigorous engineering, quality and homologation requirements”.

With this result, added to the poor performance of Strada, 208, Cronos/Argo, among others, Latin NCAP strongly encourages them to review these requirements, which are far from what they claim and what consumers in the region deserve”.

So how to choose a cheap electric car?

If you are looking for an electric vehicle that combines performance, powerful design and maximum safety scores, it is interesting to know BYD’s “cheap” model: the Dolphin. With a 5-star rating, it passed one of the most demanding tests in Euro NCAP.
