An event entitled “The Legacy of Mamed Emin Rasulzade in the History of Cultural and Social Thought of Azerbaijan” was held at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of a prominent social and political figure, one of the founders of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, Chairman of the National Council of Azerbaijan Mamed Emin Rasulzade , reports Day.Az.

The event was organized in accordance with the order of President Ilham Aliyev on holding the 140th anniversary of Mamed Emin Rasulzade.

The grandson of Mamed Emin Rasulzade, Honored Artist Rais Rasulzade spoke about his grandfather, as well as the portraits of this prominent social and political figure created by national artists Kamil Aliyev and Ogtay Sadigzade and demonstrated at the event from the museum’s collection.

Professor Solmaz Rustamova-Tohidi spoke in detail about the role of Mamed Emin Rasulzade in the history of the struggle for independence and social thought of the Azerbaijani people, his rich life path, socio-political and literary activities. She also donated the recently published book “II International Readings named after Rasulzade” to the museum.

Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh is one of the individuals who have contributed greatly to the realization of the ideal of independence in Azerbaijan and the revival of the construction of a national state in the crisis geopolitical conditions of the first decades of the twentieth century. His ideology of independence had its origins in the desire for national freedom, rooted in the centuries-old memory of his native people. The bright journalistic, political, literary-critical and scientific heritage of Mamed Emin Rasulzade, which became the chronicle of the era, occupies a special place in the history of social thought of Azerbaijan. For many years, he lived and fought in exile, dreaming of an independent Azerbaijan.

There were also speeches and discussions with the participation of famous representatives of the intelligentsia, researchers of the heritage of Mamed Emin Rasulzadeh from Germany and Iran.
