The Assembly of the Republic, Law, Political Affairs and Foreign Relations Committee approved the “Tort Acts (Amendment) Law Proposal” and submitted it to the agenda of the General Assembly.

The amendment proposal includes the removal of the sentence “No tort suit may be brought against Her Majesty”, a legacy from the British period in the law.

The committee held the general discussion of the “Industrial Registration (Amendment) Bill”, which is on its agenda.

According to the statement made by the Parliament; The Republic Assembly, Law, Political Affairs and Foreign Relations Committee met today at 10.30 under the chairmanship of UBP Deputy Committee Chairman Yasemi Öztürk.

The Law, Political Affairs and Foreign Relations Committee convened with the agenda of “Tort Acts (Amendment) Law Proposal” and “Industrial Registry (Amendment) Bill”, whose proposal was made by UBP İskele Deputy Yasemi Öztürk.

The Committee first discussed the “Tort Acts (Amendment) Law Proposal” and unanimously approved it and submitted it to the agenda of the General Assembly.

The committee, which then held the general discussion of the “Industrial Registration (Amendment) Bill”, will continue its discussions on this draft in its upcoming meetings.

Officials from the Ministry of Economy and Energy, Department of Industry, Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry, Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen attended the committee meeting as guests and presented their opinions to the committee.

Committee Member UBP Deputies Fırtına Karanfil and Hasan Küçük and CTP Deputy Ürün Solyalı attended the meeting chaired by UBP Deputy Yasemi Öztürk.
