Vladimir Nikolov will make his debut as an assistant coach in the national under-20 volleyball team tonight.
The legend joined coach Miroslav Zhivkov’s staff for the Balkan Championship in Serbia (13-17 August) and the upcoming European Championship in Serbia and Greece (26 August – 7 September). After the end of his competitive career, Nikolov was already a coach of a national team for teenagers, as well as of “Levski”, where he is now co-president of the club.
The Balkaniad begins today in the Serbian resort town of Vrnjačka Banya. The hall is named after the basketball legend Vlade Divac. It is there that one group of the upcoming European Championship for teams of this age will be played (we are in the stream in the Greek city of Arta).
The first match of the team led by Miroslav Zhivkov is against Moldova at 9 p.m. The Bulgarian team arrived in Vrniacka Banya on Monday and immediately trained. Today Zhivkov and Nikolov took the team for a second activity.
Bulgaria is in Group B along with Albania, Moldova and Turkey. In the other are Serbia, North Macedonia and Greece. It’s head-to-head and the top two advance to the semi-finals.
