The supply of drinking water in Azerbaijan will be increased to 85 percent.
As Day.Az reports, this is provided for in the “National Strategy for the Effective Use of Water Resources” approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
According to the National Strategy, the state water accounting system will be improved and illegal interference will be prevented.
“The use of modern irrigation methods will be increased to 10 percent throughout the country by 2027. Four new reservoirs will be built to increase fresh water supplies. Thanks to the expansion of water supply infrastructure, the supply of drinking water will reach 85 percent, and the supply of irrigation water will increase to 90 percent. The use of alternative water sources will also be encouraged, the accounting level will reach 100 percent, drinking water losses will be reduced to 33 percent, and losses in irrigation water supply will be reduced to 42 percent,” the National Strategy notes.
