According to the press release of the Liberal Movement, the current parliamentarian Virgilijus Alekna is in the second place of the party’s candidates for the Seimas in the multi-mandate district, the Seimas member Eugenijus Gentvilas is in the third place, the former mayor of the Trakai district, parliamentarian Edita Rudelienė is in the fourth place, and the Seimas member Andrius Bagdonas is in the fifth place.

The top ten candidates of the party also include Joniškis district mayor Vitalijus Gailius, MPs Arminas Lyderis, Minister of Culture Simonas Kairys, Viktoras Pranckietis, Raimundas Lopata.

According to party chairperson V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, the list of the Liberal Movement, the politicians at the front of it are the liberal community’s request for “responsible, predictable and principled liberal politics”.

“We aim to return predictability, mobilization for activities, listening to different opinions in making rational decisions to politics”, V. Čmilytė-Nielsen is quoted in the party’s press release.

On Tuesday, new candidates of the Liberal Movement in single-mandate constituencies were also approved. Among them is the current Minister of Culture S. Kairys, who is running in the Kaunas Center-Žaliakalnis district, and also supervised the preparation of the Liberal Movement program for the upcoming elections.

According to him, this time both external experts and party committees will be used for the party’s election program.

“This time the program is a bit different – it will be possible to find not only program proposals, but also an assessment of the current situation. We will also invite you to think about challenges that transcend a single term. The main task of liberals is to promote diversity, but at the same time communication, not to explain how to live, but not to hinder creative, successful, active people”, S. Kairys is quoted in the party’s report.

Seimas elections in Lithuania will be held on October 13 this year.
