The Libyan government calls on families to return to their homes »

Affiliated – INA After negotiations for more than a year as a step towards reconciliation in the country, Libyan government sources reported today, Wednesday, that families who were displaced from the town of Tawergha were allowed to return to their homes. The town of Tawergha was looted after the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi, and its residents were expelled by opponents of Gaddafi in 2011 in response to Gaddafi using the area as a launching point for launching attacks on the city of Misrata, located in the west of the country, during the uprising. The displaced live in poverty in camps and shelter areas across Libya, and have been prevented from returning to their homes. These displaced people have faced violations and arbitrary arrests since video recordings appeared indicating that some of them joined Gaddafi’s forces in 2011. Source: Agencies
