The Libyan Tribes Union called on the Zliten office of the Supreme Judicial Council to intervene regarding the decision on sighting the Eid al-Fitr crescent.
The head of the Zliten Union of Libyan Tribes Office, Shaaban Faraj bin Nasser, told the council to urgently intervene in accordance with the legal powers that empower it to adjudicate the matter and unite the Libyans on one opinion and one word.
In a statement addressed to the Supreme Judicial Council, bin Nasser called on the council to intervene, saying: “In view of the division and disagreement that occurred over sighting the crescent and determining the first day of Shawwal and the blessed Eid al-Fitr due to the difference in the announcement of Dar al-Ifta.”
And the ousted Mufti of Parliament, Sadiq Al-Ghariani, announced today, Thursday, that tomorrow, Friday, is the completion of the month of Ramadan, and that Saturday is the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.
And Dar Al-Iftaa clarified that there was no proven ruling on seeing the crescent this night, inside the Libyan cities, as the council decided that Saturday is the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.
Dar Al-Iftaa indicated that this announcement is based on the reports submitted to the Council for Sharia Research and Studies by the committees charged with observing the new moons, the entry of the lunar months, and the follow-up of the courts specialized in receiving witnesses of the vision.
And the Supreme Committee for Ifta in Libya announced today, Thursday, that tomorrow, Friday, is the days of Eid Al-Fitr
The committee stated that the Crescents Search Committee affiliated to the Supreme Committee for Ifta’ reported that the Shawwal crescent had been sighted tonight.
The committee had announced earlier today that its affiliated committees in all parts of Libya went out to investigate the sighting of the crescent of Shawwal for the year 1444 AH.
