When considering the issue of the compliance of basketball clubs applying to compete in the second men’s basketball league of Lithuania with the sporting, financial, reputational and infrastructural requirements, it was decided that the Association “Sports and Health Club “Mantinga”, Shaki Basketball Club, VšĮ Žalgiris Basketball Center, Vilkaviškis Basketball Club “Perlas” , Association “Kretinga Basketball Club”, Association Jurbarkas Basketball Club “Jurbarkas”, VšĮ “Palanga Basketball”, VšĮ “Šilutės sportas”, VšĮ Telšiai Basketball Center, VšĮ “Krepšinio pulsas”, Association Joniškis Sport Club “Siekis” meets the requirements of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation the requirements of the ongoing Lithuanian Second Basketball League licensing process and can participate in the 2024/25 championship.
The public institution “KK Perlas” meets the requirements for participants of the second Lithuanian men’s basketball league and can participate in 2024/25. championship, but it is recommended to organize representation according to the actual operator, that is, to appoint a representative from “KK Statyba”.
The Klaipėda City Student Basketball Sports Club Association meets the requirements for participants of the second Lithuanian men’s basketball league and can participate in 2024/25. championship, however, it is recommended to organize the administration of participation in the competition according to the actual operator, i.e. to transfer the existing license to participate in the second Lithuanian men’s basketball league to the actual operator VšĮ “Neptūnos kräskeinių klubas”.
Kaunas district sports club “BC Omega” meets the requirements of the Lithuanian Second Basketball League licensing process conducted by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation and, having fulfilled the financial conditions set by the organizers of the Second Lithuanian Men’s Basketball League, can participate in the 2024/25 season. in the championship.
“Jaunasis sporutortas” VšĮ meets the requirements of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation’s licensing process for the Second Lithuanian Basketball League, and after fulfilling the conditions for the performance of basketball competitions set by the organizers of the Second Lithuanian Men’s Basketball League, it can participate in the 2024/25 season. in the championship of the second Lithuanian basketball league.
Public sports club “Plungės Olimpiečiai” meets the requirements of the Lithuanian Second Basketball League licensing process conducted by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation and, having fulfilled the conditions set by the organizers of the Second Lithuanian Men’s Basketball League, can participate in the 2024/25 season. in the championship.
Regarding admission of new members to LKF members and removal from LKF members
The following LKF members were removed from LKF members at the meeting:
Lithuanian Basketball League clubs – VšĮ “SSK”, VšĮ “Gargždų sportas”;
Regional basketball league clubs – sports club Šilalės “Lūšis”, association “Ignalinas basketball”, VšĮ “Utenė”, sports club “BC Pašvitinys”, association “Hybridini sporto federationa”;
Other organizations – VšĮ sports club “Eos”.
Three members had submitted requests to withdraw from LKF membership:
VšĮ Ukmergės Sport Club “Olimpas”, VšĮ Aukštaitija Basketball School, Lithuanian Family Basketball League.
11 members were expelled during the entire LKF SC meeting. Not a single new member was accepted, the decision on the applications received so far for admission to the LKF members was postponed to the next meeting of the LKF Central Committee after the report-election conference.
Currently, the approved list of members with the right to vote at the LKF general conference is 150 members.
LKF activity figures and the development direction of Lithuanian basketball
LKF general secretary Mindaugas Balčiūnas, who is applying to become LKF president, also presented the results of the organization’s activities and planned priorities for the development and strengthening of Lithuanian basketball at the press conference.
It is planned that the detailed presentation of the 2024-2028 Lithuanian basketball development strategy document to LKF members and the basketball community will take place on September 4.
