The NHS’ director of mental health has warned its institutions and hospitals that department managers must work seven days a week amid national safety concerns.

Claire Murdoch, NHS England’s national director of mental health, said she was “shocked” to hear that some department managers in NHS Trusts and Trusts do not work or oversee the quality and safety of departments seven days a week. They became exclusively Monday-Friday employees.
