BarcelonaThe technological company Vonzu, with roots in Barcelona, was born in 2018 as a logistics software for goods delivery companies, and expects to invoice one million euros this 2022. Although it started as a tool for logistics management has evolved over time and is now also a distribution control tool for retailers, with clients such as Leroy Merlin or Acciona.

In the words of its co-founder and general manager, Mario Martínez-Jurado, Vonzu has “created a digital ecosystem that automates and optimizes the logistics of businesses and logistics operators so that they have absolute control of their supply chain and thus guarantee the delivery of the products complete a good brand experience,” he explains.

The pandemic was key to Vonzu’s growth, at a time when e-commerce and the logistics sector boomed important “In 2020, we already had a solid enough product to focus on the customers we wanted, and the boom in logistics also helped us grow,” Martínez-Jurado explains. “When covid arrived we were already well enough positioned to achieve this boom”, he adds.

Thus, the evolution ofstart-up has been exponential: in 2019 they invoiced 60,000 euros; in 2020 there were already 270,000; in 2021 they closed the year with an income of 614,000 euros, and they assure that this 2022 they will exceed the million. They currently have a workforce of 37 workers, and during 2022 they plan to strengthen their presence in Spain and Portugal. In addition, they foresee further expansion, between 2023 and 2024, in other markets such as Costa Rica, Guatemala, Colombia, Peru and Argentina.

Regarding funding, Martínez-Jurado explains that they have survived and grown organically. “Until mid-2021 we had raised little funding at the round level, about 170,000 euros,” and at the end of 2021 they raised 1.5 million euros in another round. But in this sense the entrepreneur is clear: “We don’t believe much in the rounds, our focus is based on the fact that the turnover must be able to pay the salaries”.
