The Louvre Museum, in Paris, and the Palace of Versailles were evacuated and closed exceptionally on Saturday October 14 ” For safety reasons “after threats, while France is on “emergency attack” alert the day after an Islamist attack in Arras.
The largest in the world “received a written message stating a risk for the museum and its visitors” and has “chosen (…) to evacuate it and close it for the day, time to carry out the essential checks”said a spokesperson after the announcement of the closure on the social network.

Bomb alert at the Palace of Versailles
In the afternoon, the Palace of Versailles was in turn evacuated after a bomb threat. The bomb threat came via an anonymous message on an Internet site, a source close to the matter told Agence France-Presse (AFP). This same source indicated that the monument would not reopen today.
France went on Friday evening on “emergency attack” alert, the highest level of the Vigipirate system, after the assassination of a teacher, Dominique Bernard, stabbed to death by a young man “on file S” in the Gambetta school campus -Carnot of Arras.
According to the Louvre, “people who have booked for a visit [du musée] within the day will be refunded ».
