Since the Negreira Affair exploded, Barça and Real Madrid have been waging a pretty crazy squabble. Last night, a video posted by the Madrid club sparked a huge outcry.
New twist in what can be called the extension of the Negreira Affair. Last night, the Madrid club released an almost 5-minute video on their social media purporting to show the links between Barca and the Franco regime.
A lunar video, which Real Madrid considers to be a response to a statement by Joan Laporta, the president of the Catalan club who had earlier called them a “regime club”, in reference to the years of dictatorship between 1936 and 1975. The two Spanish behemoths who accuse each other mutually.
To return to the video in question, Real Madrid retraces, by deliberately omitting passages or by “rewriting” history, the many links between Barça and the Spanish dictator. The club, surely a bit paranoid, repeatedly questions “Who was the diet club?as a response to the accusations of the president of the Catalan club. With archival footage in support, the Madrid club, for example, points to the inauguration of Camp Nou by one of Franco’s main ministers, José Solis Ruiz, in 1957.

There follows a list of ‘facts’ where Barca allegedly ‘benefited’ from the dictator and even ‘honoured’ him. The Madrid club concludes the video by claiming that their team has been torn apart by the civil war, with players “murdered, arrested and exiled“. Finally, a finalWho was the diet club?appears one last time on the screen.
