The M-12 Moscow-Kazan-Yekaterinburg highway under construction will be adapted for the passage of unmanned vehicles, Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairman of the Board of Avtodor Group of Companies, said on the air of Avtodor radio.

“In general, we design roads so that it is possible to use drones,” Petushenko quotes TASS. According to him, only roads of the first technical category are being built on this route. They allow cars to travel at speeds of at least 130 km per hour, as well as use technological innovations, including drones.

In November last year, the company “Evargo” for the first time tested the unmanned EVO-1 truck on hydrogen fuel on the section of the “smart” road TsKAD-3. And in September 2020, Yandex announced that it would separate the direction of unmanned vehicles into a separate company – Yandex Self-Driving Group (Yandex SDG) – and would additionally invest $ 150 million in its development.
