The M7 will be three-lane between Budapest and Lake Balaton, but we don’t know when

by time news

The M7 motorway between Budapest and Székesfehérvár will be expanded to three lanes in both directions, the date of the expansion is not yet known.

István Molnár, the regional director of the Fejér county of Magyar Közút Zrt., and also the county president of the Transport Science Association, pointed out that in the fall of 2022, the operation and development of more than 1,200 kilometers of expressways will be taken over from Magyar Közút by Magyar Concessziós Infrastruktura Fejlsztó Zrt. (MKIF). This organization will be responsible for the aforementioned expansion.

It was also revealed from István Molnár’s presentation that the construction plans for the expansion of the section of the M1 highway between M0 and Bicske to two to three lanes have already been completed. Construction has already been approved for the section between Bicske and Tatabánya, which means that the expansion will begin soon, wrote the MEAT.

It was written about the M7 motorway that its right-hand side (that is, the one leading from Budapest to Lake Balaton) between the M0 and the Balatonvilágos junction will be extended to three lanes, while the left-hand side between Balatonvilágos and Székesfehérvár will be built to three lanes, from the former capital because the track in the direction of Budapest is already three-lane.

The paper contacted MKIF Zrt. to see if there is a concrete date for the construction, but no answer has yet been received.
