The former president of the Superior Court of Justice (TSJ) of the state, Edmundo Roman Pinzónwho was shot to death outside the Caleta courtswas buried this Friday in the Eternal Descanso pantheon located in the El Quemado town of this port.
The funeral procession left at 10 a.m. from the San Pedro chapel on Cuauhtémoc Avenue towards the pantheon, where around 100 people, including friends and family of the magistrate, said goodbye at 11 a.m.
Patrols of the State Police, Municipal Police, and National Guard were observed, which guarded the chapel from Thursday, December 12 until this Friday, where the magistrate’s body was laid to rest.
The attendees said goodbye to Edmundo Román with a minute of applause, wreaths of flowers and arrangements.
His son, Mitchel Asaí Román Serrano, said a few words of gratitude to those who accompanied them, from friends, lawyers, workers and family, he even remembered his older brother, who died a year ago.
“Now he is resting with his son, I never forget that my father always had him in mind,” he mentioned.
He added: “I am very grateful for always being with him, for the small and long moments, working or living together. I hope that what you have experienced has been of some use to you. His legacy must be maintained, I will continue talking about him and expressing what he always said, because he was always impeccable in what he did, especially in his work. Every one of you, whatever you have rescued or had from him, keep it. I thank you very much.”
Edmundo Román was shot to death on Wednesday, December 11, outside the Caleta courts.
At the funeral, the president of the state TSJ, Ricardo Salinas Sandoval requested permanent surveillance in the courts after the events and said that he did not know if the magistrate had received threats.
