This Wednesday, September 20, the representation of the workers and the Intermezzo Association, on which the choir depends, had a meeting at the regional mediation and arbitration institute, after which they reached an agreement.

The workers have managed to get the company to redraft the conflictive contract clause described as “abusive” by the Works Committee. This article allows sanctions and dismissals if the artists do not pass periodic tests to maintain “the quality standards” of the choir members, carried out by a court that the workers did not consider independent.

In mediation, the workers have achieved “the paralysis of the clause” until the negotiation of a new one and the agreement to draw up a company agreement for the Teatro Real Choir. “Something truly historic,” said the CGT union section of the Coro in a statement; a point that the singers have been requesting for a long time, instead of being attached to the Collective Agreement of Dance, Circus, Variety and Folklore professionals of the Community of Madrid, as until now.

The Teatro Real has started the season with Medea by Luigi Cherubinion display until the beginning of October, with a performance this Tuesday attended by the kings of Spain and in which a projection on the ceiling created by Jaume Plensa premiered.
