District Court – Montana took the most severe measure of remand “detention” of G. Y. G. from the village of Mokresh – accused of murdering an elderly woman from the same village.

According to the evidence collected during the pre-trial proceedings, G. Y. G. was brought in as a defendant on 21.08.2024 for the fact that on 09.07.2024 he entered the private property of the victim in the village of Mokresh and took away movable property, as used force and struck her on the head with a metal object, which resulted in her death.

Having reviewed all the evidence collected so far, the arguments of the parties and the request for a lighter measure of remand, the court found the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office – Montana to keep the accused in custody to be well-founded, as well as the existence of a reasonable assumption that G. J. G. committed the criminal act of which he is accused. There is also a confession of the accused G. Y. G. and an agreement on his part to show the means of the crime, as well as to participate in an investigative experiment, showing how he committed the criminal act. For this serious crime, the law stipulates a penalty of 10 to 20 years “Imprisonment”, there is also a real danger that the accused will abscond and commit another crime.

Given all of the above, the court determined that the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office – Montana to take a measure of remand “detention in custody” against G. Y. G. to be respected. The decision of the court is subject to appeal or protest before the Court of Appeal – Sofia in a 3-day term.
