Salem: Forest department officials are investigating after a person who went deer hunting did not return to the Karnataka forest area near Mettur in Salem district.

Tamil Nadu fishermen go to Parisil and engage in fishing in the Palaru forest area on the Karnataka border of Tamil Nadu. On the last 14th, fishermen from Emanur of Govindabadi and Dharmapuri district went through Balatu on two occasions.

While only a few of those who went on visits returned to the village, Raja (37) from Govindabadi did not return to the village. The refugees told the villagers that the Karnataka Forest Department fired on the fishermen. The forest department officials are investigating whether Raja was caught in the firing by the Karnataka forest department or whether he was caught by the forest department.

Meanwhile, the Forest Department has received information that the Karnataka Forest Department has seized two deer carcasses and a torch light from two parcels in Balarat. The forest department officials are also investigating whether the firing incident took place due to deer hunting in the Karnataka forest area.

As a result, police security has been increased in the Balaru check post area on the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border. The forest department is still searching for the missing fisherman Raja.
