Created with the aim of facilitating seizure and confiscation in criminal matters, particularly in cases of tax and customs fraud, the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AGRASC) continues its journey in judicial institutions in the Republic of Guinea. After Boké, this agency went this Thursday, February 22, 2024 to the Kindia court of first instance. Objective, to exchange with justice actors on the mechanism by which this institution goes to improve the functioning of institutions for the good of the population.

It is in front of several actors of Kindia justice that this AGRASC mission led by the director general, magistrate Alpha Seny Sylla declined the main reason for their presence in the premises of the Court of First Instance of Kindia. An unscheduled visit which consists of discussing the mechanism by which this institution endowed with the power of administration of goods goes to improve the functioning of institutions in Guinea, including its functions and its attributions.

During the discussions, the justice actors who were massively present raised their concerns. Questions often focused on the missions of AGRASC, its attributions. Some observations on the role of this agency were raised, notably its relationships with judicial structures to avoid conflict of roles. According to the Director General of AGRASC, “it is the last link in the criminal chain and is a partner of justice. It is a transparency tool to avoid loss at the state level,” said Director General Alpha Seny Sylla.

This visit by AGRASC, led by a magistrate of the judicial order and placed under the dual supervision of the ministries in charge of justice and the budget, is greatly appreciated by the Kindia prosecutor’s office. » In summary, this interview shed light on the vision of everyone in this department in relation to the management of all seized or confiscated property. Before this interview with the DG and the entire management, we had the presentiment that their management could only extend to seized or confiscated property but today we realize that even property currently undergoing the conservation procedure , in order to prevent these assets from deteriorating, they must be seized by this agency, it is a cause for celebration,” suggested prosecutor Damou Camara.

After the discussions, the mission and the prosecutor went to the registry to take an inventory of the seized or confiscated goods located at the store or in the courtyard of the Kindia court of first instance.
