The manager of the Budapest company that made headlines for the production of beepers that exploded in Lebanon spoke

Gold Apollo’s manager claimed on Wednesday that BAC Consulting Kft manufactured the telecommunications equipment.

I don’t do the beepers. I am just the mediator. I think they got it wrong.

As we wrote, pagers used by Hezbollah members for communication exploded in various places across Lebanon on Tuesday. Nine people, including a child, died, and 2,800 people were injured in the explosions. Hezbollah blames Israel for the actions, but experts and the Reuters news agency say that Israel’s secret service, the Mossad, may have been behind it when it succeeded in planting explosives in personal hostages.

However, according to Middle Eastern media, Israel had not planned to detonate the loudspeakers before an all-out war against Hezbollah, but security chiefs decided against it at the last minute after at least two Hezbollah members suspect that something was wrong with the callers.

So far, it has not been revealed how and when the explosives detonated on Tuesday set off the thousands of devices, which, according to an ammunitions expert, could be between 10 and 20 grams per whistle and of “military quality”.

Taiwan’s Economy Ministry said on Wednesday that Gold Apollo exported 260,000 beepers between 2022 and August 2024, mainly to European and American markets. In their statement, they wrote that there were no reports of explosions related to the mentioned products and there are no reports that the company has directly exported pagers to Lebanon.
