The global market for foldable smartphones has changed its leader. This is reported in the Counterpoint Research report for the first quarter of 2024, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
According to analysts, the market grew by 49 percent in the first quarter compared to the same period last year. This is a record figure for the last six quarters. The leader of the segment was the Chinese corporation Huawei, which increased deliveries by 257 percent over the year and received a share of 35 percent.
The second position went to the Korean company Samsung, which had previously been the leader in the folding device market. Over the year, smartphone shipments fell by 42 percent, and the IT giant’s market share was 23 percent.
The top 4 also included Chinese Honor and Motorola. Honor received a 12 percent share, increasing shipments by 460 percent. Motorola Corporation received an 11 percent share. Over the past year, shipments of its devices increased by 1473 percent.
Counterpoint Research analysts also noted that foldable smartphones with a book-like form factor have become more popular on the market. Such devices have a 55 percent share.
