Morocco, he maintained, as an active member in the Mediterranean and Gulf regions, continues, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and with the support of all institutions , led by parliament, to make enormous efforts capable of providing innovative and appropriate solutions responding to the challenges in terms of energy transition and the promotion of renewable energies, which efforts are highly praised by the various partners as well as by various international organizations.

Recalling that Morocco is considered a pioneer in terms of investment in sustainable solutions, Mr. Mayara emphasized the strategic situation of the Kingdom and the assets which have allowed it to rise to the rank of leaders in the field of financing and development of projects linked in particular to renewable energies, energy efficiency and green hydrogen, as part of its ambitious strategy aimed at converging towards carbon neutrality.

The goal, he said, is to have a more attractive renewable energy sector for private investments, and to put in place an appropriate legislative, regulatory and institutional framework, noting, in this sense, the role played by the Chamber of Advisors in this matter and which is in perfect harmony with its composition and the powers conferred on it in the legislative field and that of the evaluation of public policies.

He also indicated that in addition to the challenges encountered linked to the establishment of effective and efficient national public policies, Morocco is working to launch initiatives aimed at achieving common objectives in terms of inclusive development in cohesion with its multidimensional environment, African in particular.

In this regard, he mentioned the Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to promote access of the Sahel States to the Atlantic Ocean, and which constitutes a “unique” framework for “multidimensional” African cooperation. .

The President of the Second Chamber also highlighted the efforts deployed with the various partners in the north of the Mediterranean as well as the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, with which the Kingdom establishes exemplary partnerships, based on cooperation in various areas of common interest.

Organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Marrakech Economic Parliamentary Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf region, whose constitutive session took place in December 2022 in the ocher city, represents an ideal opportunity for parliamentarians and founding partners of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean to interact with political and economic actors from the public and private sectors, as well as with academic circles and civil society.

This two-day Forum addresses two main themes, namely “The transition to green energy” and “Supporting entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises in this process”.
