Three days after the deadly shooting in Michigan, the parents of Ethan Crumbley – the 15-year-old boy who shot dead four students at the high school where he studied – were arrested this morning (Saturday) by police. The local prosecution has announced that both parents will be charged with 4 counts of unintentional manslaughter, as they purchased the gun he used in the killing spree.

According to US local media reports, the mother posted on social media a picture of herself and her son with the gun, writing that they were “checking out his new Christmas present.” An incident was also reported about two weeks before the shooting, when a teacher noticed N. searches the net for information on ammunition and has updated his parents on it. The mother said in a white response that she “is not angry with you, but next time you must learn not to get caught”.

On the morning of the massacre the teacher saw Ethan drawing a comic of a bleeding man with a gun by his side, saying various phrases – including “blood everywhere”, “my life is worthless” and “thoughts do not stop – help me”. At this point the school summoned Ethan’s parents for an urgent conversation with their son, but the parents refused to send him for counseling and did not even check if their son was carrying the gun they had bought him. When they left school Ethan returned to class – where he pulled out his gun and opened fire at his classmates.

Last night authorities announced that it had been decided to prosecute the parents, but it was later said that the two had fled their home in the town of Osford. As mentioned, this morning they were found hiding in a warehouse in the basement of an industrial building in Detroit, about 60 miles from their home. According to the suspect, the two received assistance to enter the building, and police are considering filing an indictment against the aide.
