The masterful creation of the surplus of existence – Opened the XXVII. Summer Exhibition at the Magyarság Gallery – Danube Bend Region

In the grip of humid heat caused by fronts and storms, it is a really pleasant pastime not only mentally, but also physically to visit the VOKE József Attila Cultural Center. The Summer Exhibition opened its doors in the Magyarság Gallery on August 19th, for the twenty-seventh time this year. In the patinated building on the Állomás promenade, you can find ninety-three unique worldview works by no less than forty-five local artists. The joyous celebration of community art is also represented by textiles, photography, graphics and electrographics, painting, sculpture and small sculpture.

Attila Csoma, director of VOKE’s József Attila Cultural Center, said in his welcome that the two missing from the exhibition this year were Tibor Dusza (painter) and Imre Gáspár (caricaturist, graphic artist), who died at the beginning of the year. At the same time, there are eight new exhibitors.

Creators:

Edit Balogh, Mihály Miklós Chiba, Ilona Csukás (Lona), István Eszes, Irén Jánosi, Csilla Királyné Aftán, Andrea Takácsné Hovánszki, Krisztián Totá, Katalin Ádám, Dóra Bajnógel, Kata Bartha, Miklós Chiba, István Czinege, Klára Csizmadia, Béla Debreczeni . .

The director announced that mayor Csaba Dióssi launched a public vote on Noémi Koncz’s colorful view on his Facebook page. his work won, which – in recognition of the creative activity of local artists – is purchased by the municipality.

The 2024/2025 season opening of the cultural center is numerically the ninety-ninth season, and also the year of preparation for the centenary.

The exhibition was opened by photographer Attila Hupján, president of the Photography Department of the National Association of Hungarian Artists, who in his speech covered the thoughts of Béla Hamvas. “Why does someone become an artist and not an athlete or a housewife? The basis of artistic creation is the desire in artists to surpass themselves and create a surplus of existence. The artist is produced by natural selection. When we talk about a creative community, we are looking for a way to connect with each other, as we can experience at this exhibition.”

The speeches were interspersed with performances by the band Duo Brillo, cellist Terézia Juhász, and pianist Noémi Bergl. We were blown away by the soft waves of the cello and piano Gershwin Summertime and Zita Perczel Little girl hands up on the imaginary ship of his songs.

I boldly recommend the exhibition as a spiritual recharge for all parents who are broken by summer holidays, squeezed by beaches, or terrorized by “Paw Patrol”, so that they can start the next school year with adequate spiritual ammunition. The exhibition is on view until September 8.
